we have had the nicest weather this week even reached 62° on Thursday. It is chillier today but very sunny.
I made my 8th block for the CW BOW at Barbara Brackman's blog. I really enjoyed making this one. The photo had to be cropped because the camera strap was showing.
It is fun to see all of the different combos people come up with. There are a lot of people following this blog so we are in this together for better or worse.
I recently joined another Yahoo group called Scrappy and Happy. One of the lady's from Block Central started it not too long ago and several of us from there are back. Even when you don't know someone personally you miss them when you don't read their comments and hear about their lives.
I belong to a lot of forums and sites but do have my favorites.
Have a great weekend

Happy Valentine's Day
it has been a pretty nice day. Partly cloudy then sunny and in the 40's.
We took Maggie for grooming this morning and she looks so cute I had to show you a photo. She doesn't look 12 does she?
I also wanted to share what Lillian sent me for the V-day. A pretty mini quilt, a box of chocolates, a cute card, some stickers in a sweet little bag.
I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather and only 30 something days til Spring.

Can you believe it is almost 40° ---
and sunny. Hooray!! The ice and snow is slowly melting or getting soft.
My DD was here for lunch we had sandwiches and Valentine cupcakes I bought at the Meijer bakery. Of course DH said they aren't as good as mine and then I thought how come you are eating them. LOL.
I finished my latest Civil War block log cabin in record time for me.
They are all a learning experience for me since I really prefer applique blocks. But I need the practice and since there will be 52 of them I will learn a lot.
We don't do anything special for V-day - never have. My Dh's family never went in for those things so I don't say anything.
I received a nice package from my friend Lillian and it made my day. I will post a photo soon. Thanks Lillian

Another freezing day...
today it has been so cold but sunny. It was 4° when I got up and it is around 19° at 6 pm.
We went to a little store nearby called New Uses. It really is a thrift shop but had a lot of nice used stuff. I bought two dessert plates with roosters and a craft book. I got 70% off the book and 30% off the plates. Near there is a new Goodwill store so we will go there next time.
I finished the second block for the mystery at QTS. This one turned out really well. This is a lot of fun the hostess tells you what to cut out and how many colors you need and then you are on your own.
I made lasagna for supper it was a good choice for such a cold day.
Hope you are staying warm. Keep on quilting

The weather has improved since last time...
Now we are having snow showers and thirty degree temps. We lost our power last week twice but only once because of the weather. Anyway it was off 16 hours. With the fireplace and kerosene heater we made it through.
I have made the 6th block of CW BOW at Barbara Brackman's blog. This one had me stumped and still does. It turned out 9" square instead of 8 ½ but that will have to do.
Keep warm friends and safe

The big wait is on...
and we are expecting a terrible storm overnight and into Tuesday. They have been talking about this for 3 days. Maybe we will get lucky and get missed. I can only hope.
I made my fifth block in the Civil War BOW over at Barbara Brackman's blog. This one was a little more complicated and took more time. I expect they will get harder as we go along.
My points aren't very even but I like the block itself.
We are starting the second mystery block over at QTS and it has a lot more pieces to work with. I need to cut out mine. I guess we have until the end of the month to show them.
I have started a new x-stitch just 3½" square so it shouldn't take long. I do these when I am watching TV and can't read or I miss the program. LOL.
I also joined a Flickr group that does old fashioned embroidery and uses them on everyday items. Some of these are really cute.
I found some iron-on patterns from Lee Wards that are pretty old I haven't decided what to make yet. I miss that store; I frequented it a lot.
I guess Block Central has shut down for good. The link doesn't even go to the site anymore. So sad for all of the nice ladies I met there.

Late January ...
and we still are having cloudy and cold days. I guess we should be grateful here to not have too much snow like the eastern states are getting.
I usually don't pay much attention to the weather but my husband is the type of person who really gets down when it is cloudy most of the time. When the sun comes out and even very cold he loves it.
I belong to a ton of forums and websites and enjoy reading them and making new friends. One of them Block Central has shut down. When you go there it says they are doing maintenance but it hasn't been up and running for almost a month. I hope the owner Kim is okay. Since I got my computer in 2004 I have made a lot of friends and acquaintances. It is one of the greatest things in my life. For several years I was on a ton of crochet sites and now I am enjoying quilting sites. I rarely crochet anymore although I haven't given it up. It's just that quilting has taken over.LOL
This is a mystery block I made this week. You start with 8 plain squares size 4" and 8 printed squares at 4". Then you cut them in half for the triangles and put together a design of your own for a 12" finished block. I thought this was a lot of fun. Can't wait to get the next one going. The name of the group is Quilting to Share. They are all so nice and helpful over at Yuku I really enjoy going there.
Thanks for reading
