I never thought I would see a hurricane in Ohio but that is what happened on September 14th. We had winds up to 75 MPH in gusts with steady winds at 40 MPH. Our lights went out at 3:15 PM that Sunday and didn't come back on until the following Friday at 4:45 PM. You talk about being in such a quandary with no TV computer or lights. I hadn't done the laundry for awhile so we were getting low on clothes. I was bound and determined not to go to a laudromat. The thing was the rest of the 550 homes came back on on Tuesday and 43 homes around the neighborhood were still in the dark. We called so many times about this I can't count. I guess when the majority of homes got their power it blew a tranformer to the 43 homes.

It really teaches you humility and I guess because it was summer and we needed no heat it took a little longer over 400,00 homes and businesses lost power. There were people really suffering because of health problems like oxygen users and such.

I made the tote bag during our blackout.
Anyway things are great again.

The cat quilt I finally finished it is not done in the pic.
Well the first week of September is almost over and today has been cloudy and cool but is now sunny. Went to breakfast and read the paper but not much else LOL.

I have been working on a quilt I started back in the 80's it was all put together but I didn't quilt it so slowly but surely I have been working on that and then I will bind it and voila a new quilt.

I finished the cat quilt and it turned out good.

For some reason I can't get into the crochet mood I guess I am burned out for now but I know I will be starting something for a Fall Swap at Eri's. I have never swapped there so hope things go well. I still do not have 4 blocks from another swap I am in but they are not too late yet.

My volunteer tomato plant has finally ripened some of the cherry tomatoes. It popped up in August and has grown so fast and produced fast too. I never had good luck with those before in pots. I guess a bird dropped a seed in the right place. My other tomatoes are just about finished the plants have died back a lot.

These are pics of the patriotic quilt I made for Scrappy Quilters. It is a table runner and fits on my antique box perfectly.
I have also started quilting my cat wall hanging I have all of the hand quilting done and have some of the machine quilting done also.
I received 4 fall blocks from the girls this week and have 4 more to receive. It is great because every one of them is so different.
The weather has been great this week not too hot and barely any rain but we do need some badly.

Wow I can't believe August is here already. It has even cooled off a little more normal now.
These are quilt blocks I have made for a swap at Scrappy Quilters. They were fun to make after I got the hang of it since I had never made a truly pieced block before. They are in fall colors and two different star patterns.
I am also finisheing my patriotic item for the same group. We only have to post a photo and then someone will judge them. It was something new for me too.
I am still crocheting a lot and am doing the mantilla doily in linen for a CA at Crochet Plus. I don't know what I would have done without all of my friends in all of my groups for quilting and crochet. Before I had the computer I just rolled with the punches now I have learned so much and am grateful for these people.
School will be starting on the 19th which seems awfully early but we are paying for AC in our taxes. LOL.

Hello-------
Well it is hot here but the humidity is not as bad as in June.

I received my SP swap things from Lisa last week; she sent me 3 balls of Cebelia cotton thread, a really nice book, a bottle of cologne, some wool yarn a pretty blue and I can't remember it all. She was late with it but surely made up for that.

I also have received all of my crazy blocks from the Scrappy Quilting group. Now I may make a pillow cover with them. I have been working on my patriotic item for the contest over there. I just have to get my walking foot so I can quilt it and I will be done.

We are then starting a star block swap in fall colors and a yardage exchange I like that this is a small group but very busy.

I am making some potholders and dish cloths to send with some of my swaps as little extras.

This is my hydrangea bush and the blooms will all blue when they are done.

Well here we are in July and I surely hope the rain has slowed down some. We set an all-time record for June. The only good thing is that the flowers and grass still look great.

I finished this doily over the weekend and it turned out so nice. I also finished my crazy blocks for the swap and mailed them off, I also received two from Kathy and they are so pretty. She was so sweet and also sent two cute buttons.

Today we went to the Heart of Ohio Antique Mall near Springfield I love that place. I got 4 old quilt magazines and an old bean pot sans the lid. I am going to use it for a flower pot.

My friend Karol and I are meeting for lunch tomorrow before she goes to work. I suggested Burger King because it is across the street from the store where she works.

This is my latest charted doily. I am now working on a larger doily from text directions.
I am making a baked checken with stuffing for dinner today with DD here. It is pretty quiet around here but not too hot 78° right now and we're supposed to have rain later.
I still haven't finished my crazy blocks for the swaps but only have two to go. I am going to make them a way I learned on Quilt & Needle. It is a great forum.
