The third Civil War block...

Here is my version of the 7 Sisters block.
It has warmed up today was around 36° this afternoon. A lot of our patio has melted but the street is still very icy.

Finally finished

I finally finished my table topper. I got the pattern from a tutorial on The Quilting Life blog. The button for this blog is on your left side of the page here.  I used some charm squares I had and I really like how it turned out. It's hard to find a pattern to use charm squares.
It was cold today and  cloudy and dreary.   We are supposed to have more snow in the next couple of days.

Just dropping in to show you my Civil War blocks

I finished the second one awhile ago. They are fairly easy but that's okay with me.
I heard from a friend of mine in Indy whom I have known since we were 3 years old. We found each other again on Facebook. I had seen her at funerals and talked to her on the phone from time to time. Our families lived across the street from each other for many years. That's Kay on the right and me. This picture was taken in downtown Indianapolis at one of the theaters. We went to the movies a lot back then. Late 1950's.
Thanks for looking

winter has returned

snow began falling last night and it has snowed off and on today. It is so cold again 20° right now at 5:30pm.
I want to share with you my beautiful "new" old machine I got Tuesday.
She was on Ebay and was listed right here in Columbus. It really saved on shipping to go and pick up than to put out over $36. She is in fantastic shape but I have to work on the tension. My DH made a new cord seeing that the old one was frayed and stiff being made of fabric. She was born in 1925 in New Jersey and is a  model 99. There were 15, 000 of these released at that time. I believe the case is either mahogany or walnut. It is in really good condition. The bar in front of the machine is the knee control. So unique to me.
I am making a tabletopper and I just have to quilt and bind it.
Then I want to join my friend Lillian and make the Civil War blocks she talked about on her blog http://lillianscupboard.wordpress.com/. Thanks for the tip.
Have a great weekend

It was a little warmer today..

but still cloudy and dreary.  People in Meijer grocery were very busy getting their items but seemed to be in a good mood. I just didn't want to shop on Christmas Eve.
I received a nice package today from my online friend Lillian.
She sent me the prettiest apron in 30's prints with ricrac; she also included a log cabin style quilted mat and a magnet her daughter made with a rooster. These sweet things came in a festive Christmas bag. I also got an unusual card that is taken from The Christmas Story movie. Thanks so much for thinking of me. The Scotties are for you

It looks like it will be a white Christmas here...

We have some snow on the ground and a little more on the way. First we are going to have freezing rain. Yuk!!
Anyway we went to a friend's surprise 80th birthday party Saturday night. It was very nice with  good food like a potluck dinner and a beautiful cake. I even won a tin of mixed nuts in a little game they played. So about an hour after we came home I got so sick I felt like I was going to die. I guess I had some kind of food poisoning. The only thing I could figure out  it was the cheese dip in a Crockpot. It did taste okay.
I opened my Secret Santa gifts this morning and I received a lot of very nice things. The only things I didn't get a photo of was a beautiful Christmas mug and a box of chocolate covered cherries.
My partner was Bea in Washington state. Thanks.
I have my shopping finished just have to wrap it all and put under the tree.
Most of the cookies I made are gone (which I knew that would happen) but I think I will bake some more but a different kind.
I am also going to make peanut butter fudge for DH he really loves it. It's very easy recipe:

Peanut Butter Fudge
3 cups sugar, 3/4 cup milk and 1 tbsp. butter Mix together in a large saucepan and bring to a rolling boil. Cook and stir for 5 minutes
Remove from heat and add 2 cups mini marshmallows and 1 18 oz. jar creamy peanut butter,
stir well and pour into a buttered large glass dish around 9 x 12". Cut into squares and store on counter in covered container.  This is an old recipe from the 70's. Enjoy!!!
***This recipe has been corrected 12/22/10.

More snow here and more on the way...

We are ready for Christmas around here lights and tree are up. Some baking done but not the shopping for DD. I can't seem to find anything  I think she would like. I haven't given up yet and will go out again.
I am sick of snow already and it's only just begun. Hoping we get none in January or February. LOL

I received my package for the Secret Santa. I haven't opened it yet not until the 20th when we all open at the same time or at least the same day.
My sender is from Washington and I sent to Virginia. I hope she likes it.
This is a little counted cross stitch ornament I made for her.
I also sent her an assortment of items for quilting.
Do you send cards? I sent a few yesterday but I have really cut back on them. I know I forgot one for my brother but will get that out this week.

This is Ohio I hope it stops soon
