My 101st post..

This is Pancho on my cutting table. He keeps me company.
I finally got my 100th post. It took awhile. It is 82° right now at 5:00 PM too warm for 4-2 in my opinion but I am not complaining.

I am working on a challenge at SmallQuilts http://groups.yahoo.com/group/smallquilttalk/?yguid=266860305. Kathy is having us make pinwheel blocks for a small quilt and I had a terrible time figuring out how to put them together. I did finally make 4 of them and am now contemplating what to do next. It is fun though because it gets the old brain to working harder. LOL.

Do you ever do crossword puzzles? I love doing them and our paper has two everyday along with a Jumble and Word Search. I can't get into Soduku as I am no math person.

DD is coming for 2 hours tomorrow for Easter dinner. I am looking forward to it as she hasn't been here for two months. She is taking PT twice a week but isn't very far yet with her recovery.
Have a great Easter weekend.

Another pretty day so far....

The sun is shining and it is around 58° and pretty nice. I got my hair cut today and it is really short. I hadn't had it cut in ages.

I finished the tabletopper I made at SQA it isn't very good but I am glad it is finished.

I am now making a year-round Christmas quilt with 2 blocks a month at QTS. I have 4 blocks finished. I am also signed up for the April doll quilt at the Board.

Not much else to write about. I saw some daffodils blooming today and my tulips are way up. I just hope it doesn't snow anymore. There are buds on the bushes and trees too.

American Idol wasn't very good last night some of the singers were way off and really off key. Some were good too but I have no idea who would get the door tonight. I don't watch the results shows because I go to bed at 9. LOL

Gloomy day but no rain....

This is a little pincushion I made for a swap over at Block Central it is only 4" across.

We have had rain all day Saturday and our back yard has two ponds LOL. But it is better than more snow.

I have been making meatballs some for spaghetti later and some for subs later this week. Have to get the buns first. Have you ever started talking about eating something and then you just have to go make it. That's what happened with the meatballs. I got the recipe at Pioneer Woman's blog. She is so fun and is a great cook. I also have a friend in Cincinnati - Lillian who is a great cook. I use her recipes all the time. Her blog is very informative and creative.

I can't believe this but I am not doing the schoolhouse block swap at SQA because they had so many color rules I would rather make my own. I would have had to buy a lot of new fabric. I am cheap when it comes to swaps like to use my stash. I hope they aren't upset that I pulled out. They are really nice.
And this is the doll quilt I made for a swap at the Board. I usually do applique but decided to do something harder.
Thanks for reading and hope your day is going well

Hey the sun's out ....yahoo!!

I made this potholder awhile back and plan to make a lot more. They are so much fun to plan out and make.
http://fredashive.blogspot.com/2009/01/doll-house-potholder-tutorial.html
This is where I found the pattern.
I have been working on a new doll quilt for the swap. Just have to sandwich it, quilt & bind. I got Rhonda this time and she is a lot of fun. She writes quilting books and all kinds of tutorials over at the board.

I am also making a pincushion over at Block Central. These ladies are great and a lot of fun. These are some practice blocks for a schoolhouse block swap at SQA on Yuku. The only thing is they want the whole thing including the 6" block to be in all the same colors. Which is fine with me, I am keeping these anyway.
Haven't seen DD for awhile but am planning on it Fri or Sat or Sun. She had a dr.'s appt. this morning .

Dreary Tuesday

The clouds are back in full force but at least it is in the 30's. Maybe an inch of snow tomorrow. A lot of our snow has melted away.

I have been making schoolhouse blocks in preparation for a swap at SQA and I love making them. The templates came with the pattern which makes it a lot easier on me. I have made a new friend over there her name is Shirley and I called her in KY. the other day and it was like talking to an old friend. She is the owner of this forum along with Heather.

I received all of my swaps packages except one 9 patch block. The Valentine one was so nice of a selection. This is the photo I took. It came from Sheila in DC.
DD hasn't been able to come on her regular Saturday visits because she cannot stand so I can't help her in the bathroom. I know she is disappointed but I can't take a chance on her falling. I could never get her back up.
Have a great evening and thanks for reading

Look what I got in the mail

I received this today from Donna over at Quilted Table isn't it pretty. The orange and green squares are only 1/2" and the pretty shamrocks are embroidered. She did a wonderful job on it.
I have two more swaps to receive but with the bad weather and the holiday Monday I probably won't get anything til Tues or Wed.
I made a banana cake today and now have a meatloaf in the oven. DD didn't get to come today because she is still weak and I can't help her in the bathroom if she can't stand up. Hopefully after her doctor's visit Monday she will be stronger.
I guess they were going to Walmart to do grocery shopping so at least she got out of the house. She will be off work for a while.

Speaking of Walmart mine has done away with the fabric and it really upsets me. The only reasonable place I have to buy it now is Joann's. I didn't buy a lot at Walmart but I liked having some choice in the matter. They had nice calicos.
I know a lot of their stores have done away with fabric and I was hoping ours would keep it a lot longer.
Daytona is tomorrow and I hope it is a safe race. I want somebody to win who hasn't before. There are a lot of them racing.
Have a great rest of the weekend and thanks for reading

Cold Monday...

Well it was disappointing to see the Colts lose but at least the winner was a team that had never won the Super Bowl before. And besides it seems like every person on TV was rooting for the Saints to win. But there is always next year.

The weather has been so cold the only good thing is the sun is out and my DH bought a snow blower today to be prepared for the next blast which is coming Tues and Wed. Our mailman still comes but we have to go out there to get it from him since the mailbox is packed with snow in front of it. Snow blowers won't go thru ice and that it what it is.

I have been working on my 9 patch blocks for a swap. They were fun to make here is a photo of six of themI don't have a lot of scraps but what I put together I think is really pretty.

I also am trying to do a BOM of a Spring table topper. This is what I have so far
Our DD had her surgery last week and did really well she said she had no pain and couldn't wait to get out of the hospital. We visited her at her house yesterday and I took her some candy for V-Day.
I sent out all of my swaps last Tuesday and everybody received theirs in good shape now I get to wait on mine to come. LOL
